Project Overview and Announcement
NSG Group (Nippon Sheet Glass Group) announced on September 2 that its subsidiary Pilkington Polska Sp. z o.o. (Pilkington Poland) plans to install an advanced architectural glass coating production line at its production base in Sandomierz, Poland.
Investment Value and Job Creation
This brand-new sputtering coating line at Pilkington Poland’s Sandomierz production base will use a fully automated system, dedicated to applying ultra-thin, high-precision functional film layers on glass surfaces. Production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2027. The investment project is worth 160 million Polish zloty (PLN) (about 43.7 million USD), and it is expected to create more than 30 new jobs locally.
Market Demand and Product Benefits
Such advanced film layers can give glass specific properties, like better energy efficiency and optimized light transmission. The new production line will allow Pilkington Polska Sp. z o.o. to make various high-performance glass products, including energy-saving low-emissivity (low-e) glass, to meet the growing demand for sustainable building solutions in Poland and Europe.
Executive Insights and Strategy
Krzysztof Granicki, Managing Director of the Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, and Central Europe Downstream Regions for NSG Group’s Architectural Glass Strategic Business Unit, said:
“The market is developing fast, and the demand for high-value-added glass in Poland and all of Europe is growing day by day. The new coating production line is our strategic response to this trend. It will not only increase our capacity, but also bring in advanced technologies that support energy efficiency and sustainable development.”
The Sandomierz factory, as one of NSG Group’s key global production bases, offers an ideal site for this investment thanks to its solid technical infrastructure, skilled workforce, and good logistics conditions. The project is not just a big step in technology, but it will also add a lot to the local economy by creating jobs.
This investment fits with NSG Group’s “Vision 2030: Phase Transformation” medium-term plan, which is driven by the “4D” strategy, including “Business Development” and “Decarbonization.” This choice shows NSG Group’s promise to grow business in high-value areas and push for social sustainability.
